Meet Mitch Clementson, Founder & Lead Engineer
"I'm Mitch, and I started MC Fire & Security because I'd seen too many systems fail at the worst possible moment.
I trained as a fire and security engineer in my early twenties. For years I worked for bigger Cornwall firms — installing alarms, commissioning CCTV, signing the logbooks. The pattern I kept seeing wasn't bad engineering. It was bad ownership. The engineer who installed the system wasn't the one who serviced it. The person on the phone wasn't the one who'd actually walked the site. Somewhere between sales and installation, things got lost.
So I went solo. I quote every job myself. I install every job myself. I commission every panel, document every device against the BS 5839 zone plan, and hand you a logbook your insurer will recognise. When you ring me six months later because the panel is beeping, you get me — not a call centre, not a different engineer who's never seen your building.
The way I see it: a fire alarm or an intruder system isn't a product. It's a promise that the day something goes wrong, it works. The only way to keep that promise is for one person to own the whole job — survey, design, install, commission, service, and the conversation a year later when something needs adjusting.
We're British Fire Consortium members because the BFC is the one accreditation body in this trade that actually verifies BS-standards knowledge across fire AND security. I work to BS 5839-1:2025 for commercial fire alarms, BS 5839-6:2020 for domestic, BS EN 62676 for CCTV, BS EN 50131 for intruder, BS EN 50133 for access control, BS 5266-1 for emergency lighting, and BS 5306-3 for extinguisher servicing.
If you're reading this, you're probably weighing us up against bigger Cornwall firms. The honest pitch is: you'll get a smaller team, the same engineer every visit, the same standards, and a 5.0★ Google rating from 36 customers who've had us back more than once. Book a free survey — I'll come out, walk your property, and tell you what you actually need. No sales pressure, no obligation."
What We Stand For
One engineer, one job
Mitch quotes, installs, commissions, services. No subcontractors, no surprise team, no "the engineer will be in touch."
BS standards, every time
We don't compromise on the standards your insurer relies on. If the spec calls for BS 5839-1, you get BS 5839-1 — fully documented.
Honest pricing, free surveys
Every quote starts with a free, no-obligation site survey. You'll know what you need and what it costs before you commit a penny.
Local accountability
We live and work in Cornwall. If something needs fixing, we're an hour away — not a regional call centre that "schedules an engineer."
Our Team
MC Fire & Security is a 4-person team based in Praze An Beeble near Helston. Every job is led personally by Mitch — the rest of the team handles support, scheduling, and second-engineer assistance on larger commercial commissioning visits.
(Photo coming soon)Accreditations & Standards
Our British Fire Consortium membership and the BS standards we work to aren't just badges — they're what your insurer, your fire risk assessor, and your local Fire Authority will check if something goes wrong. Every system we install is delivered to its current British Standard, and every service visit is logged against that standard.

Independent verification of standards knowledge across both fire and security disciplines. Listed at bfc.org.
BS standards we work to:
- BS 5839-1:2025 — Commercial fire alarm systems
- BS 5839-6:2020 — Domestic fire alarm grading
- BS EN 62676 — CCTV system standards
- BS EN 50131 — Intruder alarm grading (Grade 2/3)
- BS EN 50133 — Access control systems
- BS 5266-1 — Emergency lighting
- BS 5306-3 — Fire extinguisher commissioning and servicing
- PD 6662:2017 — Intruder alarm scheme
- BS 7671 — Electrical wiring regulations
"Independent accreditation matters more than ever. According to BAFE's 2024 audit data, missing or non-functional safety systems were identified in 42% of UK commercial Fire Risk Assessments — and the single biggest predictor of compliance was whether the installer was independently accredited under a recognised standards body."
